- (毘伽羅, 毗伽罗)
(sa) vyākaraṇa, grammatical analysis, grammar; 'formal prophecy,' Keith; tr. [lang id =1028]聲明記論 which may be intp. as a record and discussion to make clear the sounds; in other words, a grammar, or sūtras to reveal right forms of speech; said to have been first given by Brahmā in a million stanzas, abridged by Indra to 100,000, by Pāṇini to 8,000, and later reduced by him to 300. Also [lang id =1028]毘耶羯剌諵; [lang id =1028]毘何羯唎拏; in the form of [lang id =1028]和伽羅 Vyākaraṇas q. v. it is prediction.
